A dental crown is a precise, tooth-shaped cap that fits over a tooth that has been damaged by a large cavity, a crack, a fracture, or a root canal. The crown restores the tooth's strength, shape, and appearance — and protects what is left of the natural tooth underneath.
Dr. Azevedo and Dr. Lee place crowns made from modern porcelain materials that match the color of your other teeth and stand up to years of normal chewing. The fit and color are designed for your mouth specifically — when a crown is done well, no one should be able to tell it is there.
A crown is usually a two-visit process. At the first visit we shape the tooth and take a precise digital scan or impression, then place a temporary crown. At the second visit, about two weeks later, your permanent crown is bonded into place.
