FAQ

The questions we hear most.

Quick, plain-language answers about scheduling, insurance, treatment, and what to expect at the practice.

Appointments

How do I schedule an appointment?+
The fastest way is to request an appointment online through our booking page — we accept requests 24/7 and confirm by phone the next business day. You can also call us at 434-286-3326 during clinical hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM).
What if I have a dental emergency?+
Call us at 434-286-3326 first. During clinical hours, we keep openings on the daily schedule for same-day emergencies. If you need help outside of clinical hours, leave a message and we'll return the call first thing the next morning.
Can I bring my child to my appointment?+
Yes — and many parents do. We're a family practice, and we're used to kids being part of the day. Please let us know in advance so we can plan space and timing.

Insurance & Payment

Which dental insurance plans do you accept?+
We accept most major dental insurance plans. Because plan details vary by employer, call our office before your visit and we'll verify your specific benefits and out-of-pocket costs.
What if I don't have dental insurance?+
Our in-house Virginia Dental Club is designed for that. One flat annual fee covers your cleanings, exams, and X-rays, plus a 15% discount on most other treatment — no deductibles, no waiting periods, no claim forms.
Do you offer payment plans?+
Yes. We work with CareCredit for low-interest financing, and our team is happy to walk you through whatever option fits your situation. We believe in transparent pricing — you'll always know the cost before treatment begins.

Your Visit

What should I bring to my first visit?+
Bring a photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you take. If you've completed your patient registration online, you're all set — otherwise, plan to arrive about 15 minutes early.
How long will my first appointment take?+
Plan for about 90 minutes for a comprehensive new-patient visit. That includes a conversation about your dental history, an exam, X-rays, a professional cleaning if appropriate, and a clear summary of any treatment we recommend.
Do you offer sedation?+
Yes — both nitrous oxide (light sedation that wears off quickly) and oral sedation (for patients who'd like a calmer, less anxious experience). Talk with us at your appointment and we'll recommend what fits.

Treatment

Do you perform root canals and implants in-house?+
Yes. Dr. Azevedo and Dr. Lee complete both root canal therapy and dental implants right here at our office on West River Road. For our patients driving in from Buckingham, Fluvanna, or south Albemarle, that means one team, one office, and no extra trips to Charlottesville or Lynchburg for specialist care.
Do you treat children?+
Absolutely. We're a family practice and care for children from their first visit through the teen years. We take an age-appropriate, gentle approach so kids leave with a good feeling about dental care.
How often should I come in for a cleaning?+
For most patients, twice a year is the right rhythm. If you've had gum disease or other risk factors, your dentist may recommend more frequent visits — we'll work out the best schedule together.
