Financial Policy

Dental care should be predictable on the cost side, not just the clinical side. Here's how we handle billing, payments, and the options we offer when insurance falls short.

Payment for services is expected at the time of treatment. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and CareCredit. For patients with insurance, we file claims as a courtesy and collect your estimated portion at the visit — the rest is reconciled when the carrier responds.

About 12.7% of working-age adults in our area don't have dental insurance, and we don't think that should mean choosing between teeth and groceries. Our two main paths for uninsured patients: CareCredit (a healthcare credit card with low- or no-interest financing for treatment) and the Virginia Dental Club (a membership program that covers cleanings, exams, and x-rays for a flat annual fee, plus discounts on other treatment).

For larger treatment plans, we'll lay out the full cost upfront — no hidden fees, no surprise add-ons — and discuss payment timing options. The goal is a plan you can realistically follow through on, not one that looks good on paper but stalls when the first bill arrives.

Why it matters

  • Clear upfront estimates — no surprise bills
  • CareCredit financing for treatment of any size
  • Virginia Dental Club membership for uninsured patients
  • Multiple payment methods accepted (cash, check, all major cards)

Questions we hear

When is payment due?+
At the time of service. For insured patients, we collect your estimated portion at the visit and bill insurance for the rest. For larger plans, we can discuss CareCredit or staged payment options before treatment begins.
What is the Virginia Dental Club?+
It's an annual membership designed for patients without insurance. For a flat yearly fee, you get your cleanings, exams, and routine x-rays included, plus meaningful discounts on other treatment. For many people, it's cheaper than the average dental insurance plan.
Do you offer payment plans?+
We use CareCredit for financing, which offers low- or no-interest plans depending on the amount and term. Many patients get approved on the spot. Talk to our front desk team about whether it fits your situation.
