Restore Your Smile

Dental Implants

A permanent tooth replacement that looks, feels, and chews like your own — placed and restored right here on West River Road.

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Over a few months, your jawbone naturally bonds to it. We then place a custom crown on top — a replacement that is indistinguishable from a real tooth.

Most general dentists refer this procedure out. At Scottsville Family Dentistry, Dr. Azevedo and Dr. Lee perform both the surgical placement and the final restoration in-house. For patients in Buckingham, Fluvanna, or Albemarle, that means no second drive to a specialist in Charlottesville or Lynchburg — your full treatment happens with the team you already know.

Most patients are good candidates if they are in reasonable general health and have enough bone to support the implant. We do a thorough exam, take a 3D scan when needed, and walk you through the entire plan and cost before we begin.

Why it matters

  • Looks, feels, and functions like your natural tooth
  • Placed and restored in our office — no referral to Charlottesville or Lynchburg
  • Protects the jawbone from shrinking after tooth loss
  • Lasts decades when cared for properly

Questions we hear

How long does an implant take from start to finish?+
Most cases take three to six months from initial placement to final crown. The implant needs time to bond with the bone before the crown can be attached. We schedule the visits in advance so you know what to expect.
Does it hurt?+
The procedure itself is done with local anesthetic, and most patients are surprised at how comfortable it is. Some soreness for a day or two afterward is normal, and most people manage with over-the-counter pain relievers.
How much do dental implants cost?+
Costs depend on whether bone grafting is needed, how many teeth are being replaced, and your insurance. We will give you a clear, written estimate before any treatment starts. CareCredit and Virginia Dental Club can help spread out the cost.
