Enhance Your Smile

Teeth Whitening

Whitening is the lowest-effort way to brighten a smile — when it's done with the right concentration and the right fit, the difference shows up fast.

Drugstore whitening strips work, sort of. The problem is the gel concentration is low, the fit is generic, and the sensitivity can be brutal because the bleach leaks onto your gums. Professional whitening solves all three: stronger gel, custom trays molded to your teeth, and clear instructions on how to avoid the sting.

At our Scottsville office, most patients choose take-home whitening with custom trays. You wear them for about an hour a day for a week or two, and most people see results well past what strips can produce. For events with a deadline — a wedding, a reunion, a job interview — we can also do an in-office boost.

Before we start, we check that whitening is actually right for you. Existing crowns and fillings don't whiten, deep stains from antibiotics or trauma may not respond, and very sensitive teeth need a gentler protocol. We'll be honest about what to expect.

Why it matters

  • Custom-fit trays — gel where you want it, not on your gums
  • Professional-strength gel for faster, longer-lasting results
  • Safer than over-the-counter for sensitive teeth (with the right protocol)
  • Honest expectations before you start — no overselling

Questions we hear

How long do results last?+
Usually 1-2 years with normal eating and drinking, longer if you avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. Most patients touch up once or twice a year with leftover gel — much cheaper than starting over.
Will whitening damage my teeth?+
When done correctly, no. Professional gels are safe for enamel. The main side effect is temporary sensitivity, which we manage by adjusting the strength and timing.
What if I have crowns or veneers?+
They won't change color with whitening. If you have visible restorations on front teeth, we'll talk about whether whitening makes sense — sometimes the natural teeth around the restoration end up brighter and the crown then looks darker by comparison.
