Infection Control

A clean, careful clinical environment — the behind-the-scenes work that keeps you safe at every visit.

You'll see the visible parts of infection control at every visit: the new gloves, the sealed instrument pouches, the wiped-down chair waiting for you. Behind those are the routine steps that keep a dental office safe — instrument sterilization, single-use barriers, treatment-room turnover, water-line monitoring, and ongoing team training.

Your safety is governed by the standards set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virginia Board of Dentistry, and Dr. Azevedo and Dr. Lee treat those standards as the floor, not the ceiling. Doing this well isn't optional — it's part of caring for the families who trust us.

If you ever have a question about how we keep the office clean and safe, ask any team member and you'll get a clear walkthrough. It's a question we welcome.

Why it matters

  • Aligned with CDC and Virginia Board of Dentistry guidelines
  • Instruments sterilized in sealed pouches between patients
  • Single-use disposable supplies wherever appropriate
  • Ongoing team training — not a one-time checklist

Questions we hear

How are instruments sterilized?+
Reusable instruments are cleaned, packaged, and processed in a heat-sterilization autoclave that meets medical-grade standards. The pouches stay sealed until they are opened in front of you for your appointment.
What about water-line safety?+
We monitor and treat our dental water lines according to CDC recommendations. This is a step many patients never think about — but it is one of the most important parts of modern infection control.
Can I ask about your specific protocols?+
Yes. We are happy to walk any patient through how we keep the office safe. It is a question we welcome — please ask at your next visit.
